Leadership Mohawk Valley

Developing leaders dedicated to our community’s growth and excellence
LMV has been successful because a sense of urgency to develop future leaders in the community was created 14 years ago.

Leadership Mohawk Valley (LMV) was created in 1990 as a joint effort of the Herkimer, Utica, Rome Chambers of Commerce and area business leaders. The 10-month leadership program develops a knowledgeable group of people prepared to be leaders in the community and to shape its future. It also provides experience in group dynamics, team leadership, presentation skills and professional and personal growth. Ultimately, the program concludes by serving as a springboard for the participant’s future community leadership efforts.

Leadership Mohawk Valley and Community Trusteeship incorporates the philosophy of Community Trusteeship in its program curriculum. Simply stated, Community Trusteeship views our community as a gift or inheritance from past generations and recognizes those who held the community in trust. Throughout the LMV program year, participants broaden their perspectives, and confront the issues at large, thereby gaining a clearer picture of the community, as it exists today. As clearly as we have received our inheritance, very soon, we will be leaving our legacy for the generations that follow. LMV is a valuable asset towards achieving our preferred future. The “awareness and engagement” focus of the LMV program has produced over 400 graduates from the region between Little Falls and Rome.

How does LMV work?
